A vacuum reducing coupling is commonly used to reduce the tubing size in a vacuum or pneumatic conveying System. A vacuum reducing coupling can be inserted before a branch in order to maintain the proper velocity in the trunk line and to reduce the pressure loss. Standard vacuum reducers are available in tube sizes which measures the outside diameter of the tube. Pipe is measured by the inside diameter. It is important to remember this when specifying a vacuum reducing coupling. A vacuum reducer also has a smooth transition to reduce the loss in air flow.
